MARGARINE & COOKING OIL BENTONITE

In the edible fat industry, acid activated clays are commonly used as adsorbents to remove impurities, particularly color pigments such as chlorophylls, carotenoids, and hydrocarbons. Compared to natural clays, acid activated clays exhibit superior performance and are capable of adsorbing impurities in dark-colored fats at high rates.

The refinement of vegetable and animal oils involves the removal of impurities such as phosphates, metals, and free fatty acids. After the alkali refinement process, the oils are subjected to vacuum refinement at temperatures ranging from 90 – 95°C for 30 minutes while being mixed with bleaching soil at a ratio of 0.3% – 1.5%, depending on the oil’s characteristics.

Bleaching soil is a critical component in the edible fat industry as it plays a pivotal role in adsorbing color pigments and other impurities, retaining residual soaps, and reducing the peroxide value of fat. Moreover, the high filtration rate of bleaching soil is an important attribute that helps prevent the accumulation of oxidation products and the retention of heavy metals in the fat.

Karben provides top-quality bleaching soils that are customized to suit the unique needs of the edible fat industry. Our bleaching soils are formulated to remove impurities effectively while preserving the nutritional value and quality of oils. Furthermore, our bleaching soils have high adsorption capacities for color pigments, ensuring a high-quality final product. They are designed to prevent oxidation and retain heavy metals, contributing to the overall safety and quality of edible fats.
